Ripper FX

Ripper FX is Australian owned and Australian made, developed and manufactured in Brisbane. That is unusual in special effects makeup, where almost everything sold here is imported, and it means shorter supply lines and a brand that answers the phone in our own time zone. Ripper FX products have been used on productions including Thor: Ragnarok, Pacific Rim and Aquaman.

What we stock

• Modelling Wax in Light, Medium and Dark, in 55g and 100g. Wax is how you build a nose, a brow ridge, a cut or a broken bone directly onto skin, and having three skin tones means you start closer to the finish.
• Liquid Latex 50ml in white, for peeling skin, aged texture and blending wax edges down.
• Blister Gel 30ml, which does something latex cannot: a raised, wet, translucent blister.
• Skin Simulation in 30ml and 60ml, for filling and smoothing so an appliance edge disappears.
• Slime Gloopy Goo 30ml, for anything that has to drip on camera.

Safety information and data sheets

Ripper FX states that its colours use FDA approved pigments and that its products are not tested on animals, and the brand describes its range as vegan with the exception of Skin Masque. Material safety data sheets for the range are published on this page as free downloads, which is exactly what schools, universities and production companies need for a risk assessment before they can buy.
