Learn to Face Paint at Home
This collection is for practising at home before you spend money on a full professional kit: a book to learn from, a face or head to paint on instead of a person, and a starter palette or kit to test technique with. The Book of Face Art by Chantal Fairy is written for beginners, and the Copyboard range (numbers 2 to 10, covering swirls, teardrops, spiders, crowns, flowers and a unicorn) gives you a reusable surface to trace and repaint the same design until it becomes automatic.
Choosing a practice surface
- Laminated or reusable practice faces (original, boy, girl, side on) for flat, close up detail work
- A Practice Head, flat backed or standing, for working at the angles a real face gives you
- Copyboards for repeating one specific design, from splitcakes to butterflies
Once you can paint a Copyboard design cleanly, step up to the beginner face paint kits for your first proper palette, or add the TAG Body Art Regular Palette or 1 Stroke Palette here if you would rather start with named colours than a themed kit. The Bit Above a Beginner Kit and its Upsize version suit someone ready to paint a real face rather than a board.
