Face Painting Filbert Brushes
A filbert brush is flat with the corners rounded off, which softens the edge of every stroke instead of leaving the sharp line a flat brush gives. This page carries the deepest numbered run on the site, the Opeth Artist Brush Filbert from No. 1 through to No. 12, plus Mont Marte's two filbert sizes and White Pearl's No. 4 and No. 11.
Where a filbert earns its place
- Blending the edge of a cheek design into bare skin
- Softening the outline of a shape painted first with a round brush
- Rounded leaf shapes that do not need a sharp point
Because the Opeth range spans twelve sizes, it helps to think in thirds: No. 1 to No. 4 for small detail blending, No. 5 to No. 8 for cheek-sized shapes, and No. 9 to No. 12 for full-face colour blocking. For a pointed tip instead of a rounded edge, see the round brushes, and for a finer line still, the detailer brushes.
