ColourVUE Costume Contact Lenses
Costume contact lenses do more for a character than any amount of makeup. A perfect zombie with ordinary eyes still reads as a person wearing makeup. Add a pair of white outs and it stops being a costume. ColourVUE is made by Maxvue Vision, and it is the range we stock because the print is dense enough to actually read across a room.
Choosing a wear period
-
1 Day lenses are single use. Best if you wear lenses once a year for Halloween and would rather not think about cases, storage or solution.
-
3 Month lenses are the most popular here. They suit a run of performances, a convention weekend, or anyone who will wear them several times across a season.
-
Yearly lenses are the choice for cosplayers and performers who return to the same character again and again.
The effects we stock
White Out and Blind White give the classic possessed or blind eye. Black Out fills the whole iris, which reads as demonic or doll like. Zombie White and Zombie Grey are subtler, with visible veining. Green Werewolf, Red Devil, Dragon Eyes, Lightning, Mirror, Space Blue, Sky Blue and Barbie Pink cover the rest of the costume shelf. Lenses that cover far more of the eye are listed separately under sclera full lenses.
Wearing them safely
These are cosmetic lenses, not vision correcting ones. Never share lenses, never sleep in them, use fresh solution rather than water, and take them out if your eye becomes red or sore. If you already wear prescription lenses, talk to your optometrist before wearing costume lenses. Maxvue publishes ISO and CE certification and Australian regulatory information for the range, and the detail is on the product pages.
Lenses sell out fastest in the last two weeks of October, so order early if you need a specific effect for Halloween. Cases, solution and applicators are under costume lenses and accessories, and the full Halloween range is at Shop Halloween.
